Got Goals?

Got Goals?

Got goals? Here are some tips for goal setting:

-It took time to put on the weight, so it will take time for it to come off!! Science shows it takes between 6-8 weeks to START seeing real change in the body. A lot of people hit the gyms or the diet real hard in January but quit after a few weeks because they’re not seeing results. Results take TIME and CONSISTENCY!

-Don’t base your goals on the number you see on the scale!! Muscle weighs more than fat, and sometimes you can be dropping clothing sizes, leaning out and getting toned – all the while watching the scale stay the same or even increase! Base your goals on something more tangible such as: I’m going to work out 3x this week and make 1 meal per day super healthy. It’s sustainable, realistic, and definitely doable!

-Don’t change everything all at once!! Going cold turkey might work for some personalities, but most of the time it’s going to make you crash and burn. Pick ONE maybe two things that you would like to change and do it for at least 2 weeks. Once you can handle that, add another change. Always add something healthy in before removing something unhealthy. The good stuff gets addicting, and it will be so much easier to let go of the bad!

-Find someone to keep you accountable!! Tell a friend your goals. Set up times to check-in with them. Let them call you out if you start to slip up! None of us were created to do life alone, and having someone there to support and encourage you can make all the difference.

-Make your goals revolve around your health NOT your looks! Sure, having a six pack and amazing booty, or sexy arms are fun perks to working out, but they shouldn’t be the goal. Putting all of your efforts into looking perfect isn’t going to leave you happy or satisfied because there is always something to improve. Feeling energized, moving well and without pain, being able to keep up with your kids, sleeping soundly, etc – all these perks of having a healthy lifestyle are the most motivating and satisfying goals you can have!
